Nothing in this article shall be construed so
as to prevent employees from becoming or continuing to be members
of any political party, club or organization; from attending political
meetings; from expressing their views in private on political matters
outside of working hours and off Borough premises; or from voting
with complete freedom in any election.
Borough employees shall not engage in the following
political activities:
A. Seeking or accepting nomination to any Borough office,
other than the Board of Education, without first obtaining a leave
of absence.
B. Using influence publicly in any way for or against
any candidate for elective office in the Borough of Totowa.
C. Circulating petitions or publicly campaigning on behalf
of any candidate for a Borough office during working hours.
D. Soliciting or receiving any subscription or contribution
for any Borough political purpose or party during working hours.
Violation of any of the provisions of §§
72-33 and
72-34 above shall be deemed sufficient cause for dismissal from the Borough service.
