The City of Montello is a body corporate and politic with the powers of a municipality at common law and governed by the provisions of Chs. 62 and 66, Wis. Stats., laws amending those chapters, other acts of the legislature and the Constitution of the State of Wisconsin.

There are hereby established pursuant to law four election wards in the City of Montello defined and described as follows:
A. 
The First Ward shall consist of that portion of the City of Montello lying south of Lake Avenue (CTH C), east of Stevens Street, east of Ellis Street, north of Clark Street, south of Underwood Avenue (STH 23), south of Park Street, west of the Montello River, south of Montello Street (STH 23) and west of Main Street.
B. 
The Second Ward shall consist of that portion of the City of Montello lying north of Wards 1 and 4, west of Cass Street, south of Park Street and west of Douglas Street.
C. 
The Third Ward shall consist of that portion of the City of Montello east of Ward 2 and north of Ward 4.
D. 
The Fourth Ward shall consist of that portion of the City of Montello lying east of Main Street (STH 22), south of Montello Street (STH 22 and 23), east of Church Street (STH 22) and south of Park Street.
The official newspaper of the City of Montello shall be the Marquette County Tribune.
