From and after the passage of this chapter, it shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to maintain, operate or conduct within the Township of Chesterfield a junk shop or junkyard in or upon which junk, as hereinafter described, shall be purchased, sold, stored, repaired, renovated or restored.
As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
JUNK
Includes old or used, dismantled or partially dismantled automobiles or other dismantled or partially dismantled motor vehicles, scrap iron, borings, old lead or other old metal, old or used glass or glassware and any other junk of similar character.
JUNK SHOP or JUNKYARD
Any premises, yard or yards used for the purpose of storing, purchasing or selling, repairing or renovating junk.
Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof, be subject to a fine not to exceed the sum of $100 and, upon default of the payment of said fine, may be imprisoned in the county jail for a term not to exceed 30 days, and any corporation violating any of the provisions of this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof, be subject to a fine not to exceed the sum of $100 which may be recovered in an action of debt. Every day that such junk shop or junkyard is maintained or operated in violation of this chapter shall be deemed to be a new violation.
