There is hereby adopted by the Borough of Towanda, Bradford
County, Pennsylvania, for the purpose of establishing rules, regulations,
provisions, penalties, conditions and terms for prescribing regulations
governing conditions hazardous to life and property from fire or explosion,
that certain fire prevention code, being marked and designated as
the "2006 International Fire Code," as published by the International
Code Council, Inc., of which not less than three copies have been
and are now filed in the office of the Secretary of the Borough of
Towanda, Bradford County, Pennsylvania, and the same is hereby adopted
and incorporated as fully as if set out at length herein, and from
and after the date of the passage and publication of this article,
the provisions thereof shall be controlling in prescribing regulations
governing conditions hazardous to life and property from fire or explosion
contained within the corporate limits of the Borough of Towanda, Bradford
County, Pennsylvania, and shall be known as the "Towanda Borough Fire
Prevention Code." It is the intent of this article that all future
additions and revisions of the 2006 International Fire Code shall
be deemed to have been adopted by reference by the Council of the
Borough of Towanda as soon as the same shall be published.
All reference in the Fire Prevention Code to the "Chief of the
Bureau of Fire Prevention" or "Chief of the Fire Department" shall
be interpreted as a reference to the "Building Codes Inspector" of
the Borough of Towanda.
Each section of this Fire Prevention Code and every part thereof
is hereby declared to be an independent section or part of a section,
and if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this
Fire Prevention Code shall for any reason be held by any court to
be invalid, it is the intent that the validity of the remaining phrases,
clauses, sentences and subsections of the Fire Prevention Code shall
not be affected thereby.
