This article is in accordance with New York Municipal Home Rule Law, § 20.
This article shall be known as and may be cited as "Local Law No. 4-2017 of the Town of Victor." The purpose of this article is to extend the term of the appointive Office of the Receiver of Taxes from two to four years.
A. 
The Victor Town Board finds and hereby determines that, on April 11, 2011, by Resolution No. 16, the Town did maintain the Office of the Receiver of Taxes as an appointive position, and that on May 23, 2011, by Resolution No. 195, the Town ratified said resolution to maintain the Office of the Receiver of Taxes as an appointive position; and the Town finds and hereby determines that heretofore the Town has appointed the Town Clerk (whose own position has a term of four years) as the Receiver of Taxes every two years, with said current term expiring on December 31, 2017; and
B. 
The Town finds and hereby determines that it is in the best interests of the Town to have the Town Clerk continue serving in the Office of the Receiver of Taxes and to have the term of said office run concurrent with the term of the Town Clerk, i.e., four years commencing on January 1 following the next election; and
C. 
The Town finds and hereby determines that the term of the Office of the Receiver of Taxes may be extended to four years by local law pursuant to Town Law § 24.
The Town Board of the Town of Victor, County of Ontario, does hereby extend the term of the appointive office of Receiver of Taxes for the Town of Victor from two to four years, commencing on the first day of January next succeeding the next biennial election.
