Code)]
There shall be continued the Linden-Roselle Sewerage Authority
heretofore created by Ordinance No. 844 of the Borough of Roselle.
The Authority shall have and exercise all of the powers and perform
all of the duties provided for by law.
[Amended 1-8-1975 by Ord.
No. 1336; 1-8-1975 by Ord. No. 1338; 12-22-1982 by Ord. No. 1561]
A. The Sewerage Authority shall consist of four members, of whom one
shall be appointed by the governing body of the Borough of Roselle,
and three members shall be appointed by the governing body of the
City of Linden in accordance with the provisions of the Sewerage Authorities
Law, N.J.S.A. 40:14A-4, for a five-year term.
B. Alternate members.
(1) There is hereby authorized the appointment of two alternate members
of the Linden-Roselle Sewerage Authority, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:14A-4(n)
(Laws of 1981, Chapter 412, effective January 7, 1982). Alternate
members shall be designated by the governing body as "Alternate No.
1" and "Alternate No. 2" and shall serve in rotation during the absence
or disqualification of any regular member or members. The term of
each alternate member shall be five years, commencing February 1 of
the year of appointment; however, their initial terms shall be four
years and five years, respectively. The terms of the first alternate
members appointed shall commence on the day of their appointment and
shall expire on the fourth or fifth January 31 next ensuing after
the date of their appointments, as the case may be. One alternate
member shall be appointed by the governing body of the Borough of
Roselle, and one alternate member shall be appointed by the governing
body of the City of Linden.
(2) Alternate members may participate in discussions of the proceedings
but may not vote except in the absence or disqualification of a regular
member. A vote shall not be delayed in order that a regular member
may vote instead of an alternate member.
C. Regular members and alternate members of the Sewerage Authority may
receive compensation for their services as members, within the limitation
hereby stated that no Chairman of the Authority shall receive in excess
of $400 per annum, and no other member of the Authority shall receive
in excess of $300 per annum.
