There shall be a Department of Code Enforcement the head of
which shall be the Director.
The Department shall be separated into two divisions as follows:
A.
There shall be within the Department of Code Enforcement a Division
of Uniform Construction, the head of which shall be the Construction
Official, who shall be appointed by the Mayor; and prior to his or
her appointment, he or she shall possess the qualifications required
by law for the Construction Official. He or she shall have, exercise
and discharge the duties of the Division of Uniform Construction.
B.
The functions and duties of the Division of Uniform Construction
shall be as follows:
(1)
To perform all the duties of the Construction Official as provided
by general law and the ordinances of the City including supervising
all subcode officials and inspectors.
(2)
To make inspections of existing structures and new construction to
assure compliance with City ordinances and regulations concerning
buildings and construction.
(3)
To enforce applicable governing laws.
(4)
To perform related duties as required by the Director and to serve
as Construction Code Official.
(5)
To preform plan review to maintain adherence with laws.
