The following words, when used in this chapter, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except in those instances where the context clearly indicates otherwise:
BOAT or VESSEL
Any contrivance used or capable of being used as a means of transporting people or goods upon the water.
COMMERCIAL DOCK
A dock utilized for commercial purposes.
COMMERCIAL VESSEL
A boat or vessel from which the owner obtains a significant portion of his income and/or which is registered as a commercial/passenger vessel either with New York State or the United States Coast Guard.
DOCK
A structure built over or floating upon the water and used as a landing place for boats and other marine transport.
MUNICIPAL DOCK
A dock owned and operated by the City of Hudson.
The following regulations shall apply to all boats or vessels excluding commercial vessels:
A. 
No person shall moor any boat or vessel so as to obstruct or encroach upon any fairway, marked channel or improved channel or so as to obstruct any aid to navigation or so as to interfere with a duly authorized mooring buoy or with the free passage of any vessel from or to any pier, wharf or dock.
B. 
The overnight docking of boats or vessels at a municipal dock is hereby prohibited.
A. 
When any boat or vessel located at a municipal dock is in violation of this chapter. Said boat or vessel may be ticketed and removed by or under the direction of the City of Hudson Police Department.
B. 
Storage and charges. After removal of any boat or vessel as provided in this section, the Police Department may store or cause such boat or vessel to be stored in a suitable place at the expense of the owner. Such owner or person in charge of the boat or vessel may redeem the same upon payment to the person with whom stored of the amount of all expenses actually and necessarily incurred in effecting such removal and storage.
C. 
Notice of removal. It shall be the duty of the Police Department to ascertain to the extent possible the owner of the boat or vessel or the person having the same in charge and to notify him of the removal and disposition of such vehicle and of the amount which will be required to redeem same.
D. 
Any person, firm or corporation violating any provision of this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof, be punishable by a fine of not more than $250 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding 15 days, or both. Each day that a violation continues shall be deemed a separate offense.
