All markings, signs, signals and lights regulating
the use thereof and the traffic thereon of all streets, sidewalks,
lanes and alleys within the Town of Middletown erected, installed
or affixed as of the date of the enactment of this article shall continue
in full force and effect until otherwise changed.
The Commanding Officer of the Middletown Police
Unit and/or the Town Public Safety Commissioner shall recommend to
the Mayor and Council of the Town of Middletown the nature and location
of any and all markings, signs, signals and lights as in their opinion
may be necessary to properly regulate the use thereof and traffic
thereon on all streets, sidewalks, lanes and alleys in the Town of
Middletown, and after approval by the Mayor and Council of the recommendations
aforementioned the Commanding Officer and/or Public Safety Commissioner
are hereby authorized, empowered and directed to erect, install and
affix any and all markings, signs, signals and lights of such nature
and at such location as approved by said Mayor and Council.
The regulations recommended by the Commanding
Officer and/or the Public Safety Commissioner shall become effective
as of the date of the approval of the same by the Mayor and Council
of the Town of Middletown.
Any regulations required by an emergency affecting
the safety of the public of the Town of Middletown may be enacted
by Commanding Officer and/or the Public Safety Commissioner and shall
become immediately effective, and any persons violating the same will
be subject to arrest and conviction as a result of violation.
Provisions of this article shall not be construed
as a limitation or revocation of any authority hereby vested in the
Commanding Officer and/or Public Safety Commissioner of the Town of
Middletown for the regulation of the use thereof and traffic thereon
on streets, sidewalks, lanes and alleys in the Town of Middletown.

Any persons convicted of violating the provisions
of this article shall be fined not less than $25 nor more than $75.
