There shall be a Department of Public Safety in the Borough of South River under the supervision and control of a Public Safety Committee. The Public Safety Committee shall consist of three members of the Borough Council, one of whom shall be designated Chairman, and who shall be appointed at the annual organizational meeting in accordance with the Rules of Council. The Department of Public Safety shall exercise supervision and control over the Fire Department, the Fire Prevention Bureau, the Police Department and the Rescue Squad and such other agencies, officers or employees of the Borough as may be designated from time to time by the Borough Council.
