The Town of Colchester does herewith adopt the provisions of C.G.S. § 12-146, relating to the payment of delinquent motor vehicle taxes by only cash, certified check or money order.
Any person owing delinquent property taxes applicable with respect to a motor vehicle and who requires proof of payment of such taxes from the Tax Collector in order to obtain an immediate release or clearance for motor vehicle registration purposes must make payment only in cash or by certified check or money order, or at any such time that the Town of Colchester allows for payment of taxes by credit card as provided in C.G.S. § 12-141a, by any credit card accepted by the Town of Colchester.

Any person may pay delinquent motor vehicle taxes by personal check; however, the Tax Collector shall not be required to issue an immediate release or clearance for motor vehicle registration purposes for a period of 10 days from the time payment by personal check is tendered.
The Tax Collector is herewith authorized to adopt Tax Office policies that comply with this article and the Connecticut General Statutes with respect to payment of delinquent motor vehicle taxes.
