Welcome to the City of Northfield. Each employee of the City has both the right and responsibility to know and understand the operational procedures and policies which govern their employment with the City.
Certain City employees are members of collective bargaining units and, therefore, are covered under collective bargaining agreements. When the information in this manual appears to conflict with the provisions of a collective bargaining agreement, the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement shall prevail.
Every effort has been made to make the contents of this manual as thorough as possible in order to enable you to understand all the policies and procedures. This manual is intended to present a summary of policies and procedures which may affect your employment with the City of Northfield.
NEVERTHELESS, THE PROVISIONS OF THIS MANUAL ARE NOT INTENDED TO CREATE A CONTRACTUAL RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE CITY AND THE EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY. THE CITY MAINTAINS AN AT-WILL EMPLOYMENT RELATIONSHIP WITH ALL OF ITS EMPLOYEES UNLESS OTHERWISE PROVIDED FOR IN A COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT COVERING THAT EMPLOYEE OR UNLESS THE EMPLOYEE'S TENURE IS GOVERNED BY STATUTE.
If this manual conflicts with any term and condition of an applicable collective bargaining agreement (CBA), the CBA will govern.
