A. 
Appointment. The Council shall appoint a Clerk for the term of three years. Prior to appointment, the Clerk shall have been qualified by training and experience to perform the duties of the office. He shall serve the Council and shall have the duties and powers as prescribed by general law, this code and N.J.S.A. 40A:9-133.[1]

B. 
Duties and responsibilities. The Township Clerk shall:
(1) 
Keep the minutes and records of the proceedings of the Council and of the proceedings of any Council committee upon the request of the President.
(2) 
Preserve and compile all ordinances and resolutions, and, at the close of the year, with the advice and assistance of the Township Attorney, the Clerk shall compile, codify and bind all the ordinances then in effect and shall properly index such compilation or codification and provide for its publication.
(3) 
Publish or cause to be published ordinances as required by law in such official newspaper or newspapers as may be designated by the Council.
(4) 
Receive and transmit all communications to or on behalf of the Council.
(5) 
Receive and keep in safe custody the surety bonds covering the fidelity and faithful performance of each and every municipal official required to furnish such bond, except that the Clerk's surety bond shall be filed with the Treasurer.
C. 
Custodian of records. The Township Clerk shall act as custodian of records. The Township Clerk shall act as custodian of records for all official books, papers and documents of the municipality for which no other repository is provided by Charter or Township ordinance and preserve and keep them safely.
D. 
Custodian of the Seal. The Township Clerk shall act as custodian of the Township Seal and cause it to be affixed to instruments and writings when specifically authorized by law or when necessary to exemplify and document or record of his or her office or to certify any paper.
E. 
Municipal search officer. The Township Clerk shall act as municipal search officer and collect the requisite fees.
F. 
Clerk of Election. The Township Clerk shall act as Clerk of Elections, performing all functions required by the general law under Title 19 of the Revised Statutes of New Jersey to be performed by the Municipal Clerk and in this connection, receive for municipal use the fees prescribed therefor.
G. 
Other duties. The Clerk shall perform all other functions required by general law and such other duties as the Council or Council President may, from time to time, require.
H. 
Statutory authority. The Office of the Township Clerk shall be subject to such general administrative procedures and requirements as are departments of the municipal government as provided by N.J.S.A. 40:69A-43(a).
A. 
Appointment. The Deputy Township Clerk shall be appointed by Council for a term of office of two years.
B. 
Duties and powers. The Deputy Township Clerk shall be under the supervision of the Township Clerk, and in that connection, it shall be the duty of the Deputy Township Clerk to perform all duties of the Township Clerk in his absence and to receive and comply with all instructions of the Township Clerk to assist the Township Clerk in the performance of the Clerk's day-to-day functions.
There shall be within the Office of the Township Clerk a Registrar of Vital Statistics who shall have those duties and responsibilities as provided for under the provisions of Title 26 of the Revised Statutes and other appropriate law.

There shall be within the Office of the Township Clerk a secretary to the Office of Legislative Services. The secretary shall be responsible for compilation of constituent and legislative information for the Township Council.[1]

Appointment. There is hereby established the position of Assistant Municipal Clerk within the Office of the Township Clerk. The Assistant Municipal Clerk shall be appointed by the Council.

B. 
Duties and responsibilities. The Assistant Municipal Clerk shall be under the supervision of the Township Clerk and the Deputy Township Clerk. In that connection, it shall be the duty of the Assistant Municipal Clerk to assist the Township Clerk and the Deputy Township Clerk in the performance of such duties as directed by the Township Clerk and Deputy Township Clerk.
