The purpose of this bylaw is to ensure the safety of persons entering upon public lakes and ponds within the Town of Hopedale.
No person shall operate any automobile, all-terrain vehicle (ATV), motorcycle, snowmobile, or other motor vehicle not specifically listed herein on ice surfaces within any public lake or pond located in the Town.
This bylaw shall be enforced by the Police Department.

A violation of this bylaw shall be punished by a fine of $25 for the first offense, $50 for the second offense, and $100 for the third and subsequent offense. Whoever violates any provision of this bylaw may, in the discretion of the enforcing officer, be penalized by a noncriminal complaint pursuant to the provisions of MGL c. 40, § 21D, and the Town's Noncriminal Disposition Bylaw (Chapter I, General Provisions, Article II, Penalties; Noncriminal Disposition). For the purpose of this provision, the penalty to apply in the event of a violation shall be $25 for the first offense, $50 for the second offense, and $100 for the third and subsequent offense.
