For the purposes of this chapter, the City is hereby divided
into the following zoning districts:
R-1

General Commercial District

Highway Commercial District

I-1

Industrial District

Shoreland-Wetland and Floodplain Districts (See Ch. 370, Floodplain Districts)

The locations and boundaries of the districts are shown on the
City Zoning Map, dated April 19, 1960 and referred to by reference
as the Official Zoning Map, City of Markesan, Wisconsin. Such Map
is an integral part of this chapter and all amendments thereto. The
Official Zoning Map shall be kept by the Clerk-Treasurer and shall
be available for public inspection during office hours. Any changes
or amendments affecting district boundaries shall not be effective
until recorded and the certified change is filed with the Map.
The following ordinances have amended the Zoning Map: Ordinance
Nos. 88-5, 88-9, 89-3, 135, 166, 186, 189, 190, 209, 214, 229.
When uncertainty exists with respect to the boundaries of the
various districts as shown on the map, the following rules shall apply:
A. When width or length of boundaries are not clear, the scale of the
map shall determine the approximate dimensions.
B. When Chapter
385, Shoreland-Wetland Zoning, Chapter
370, Floodplain, and this chapter conflict with one another, the most restrictive combination of such regulations shall control.
C. District boundaries are normally lot lines and center lines of streets,
highways, railroads or alleys.
