The majority of the Town Board shall, at its discretion, except as limited by local law and the laws of the State of New York and the United States, appoint a person to serve as Police Commissioner for the Town of Niagara. The Town Board shall, prior to the appointment of a Police Commissioner, consult with the Chief of Police concerning such appointment. There shall not be compensation for this position.
The Police Commissioner shall be a resident of the Town of Niagara and shall be at least 21 years old.
