A. 
Septic tank size shall be a minimum of 1,500 gallons.
B. 
PVC Schedule 40 shall be used in the septic system construction installation.
On inspection and approval, the building permit shall be endorsed and dated and the installer shall provide an as-built plan detailing layout and design of septic system.
The Franklin Board of Health accepts any and all provisions of Title V of the State Environmental Code (310 CMR 15.00), regarding the location, design and construction of subsurface sewage disposal systems, in the entirety.
A. 
Percolation testing can be performed at any time during the year. The maximum acceptable percolation rates shall be in accordance with the requirements of Title V of the State Environmental Code (310 CMR 15.00).
B. 
Deep observation holes shall be dug at the same time when percolation tests are conducted. The Franklin Board of Health has discretionary power in determining maximum high groundwater elevations based upon historical high water levels, observation of soil mottling and the use of well data from United States Geological Survey (USGS) reports. The Franklin Board shall require the use of observation pipes when it is the opinion of the approving authority that marginal soil conditions exist.
