Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:87-46 and 40A:9-141 et seq., the offices of Tax Collector and Treasurer are hereby combined to be known hereafter as "Tax Collector/Treasurer." The duties of Tax Collector and Treasurer shall be performed by the Tax Collector/Treasurer.
The Municipal Tax Collector/Treasurer shall hold office for a term of four years from the first day of January next following his or her appointment. Vacancies other than due to expiration of term shall be filled by appointment for the unexpired term. Appointments shall be made as provided by law.
No person shall be appointed or reappointed as Municipal Tax Collector/Treasurer unless he or she shall be properly certificated and qualified as provided by law. The Municipal Tax Collector/Treasurer need not be a resident of the Borough of Dunellen.
The Municipal Tax Collector/Treasurer shall receive such compensation as shall be fixed from time to time by the general Salary Ordinance of the Borough of Dunellen.[1]

Nothing in this article shall be construed to affect the tenure acquired by the person presently holding the offices of Tax Collector and Treasurer.
