There is hereby created the office of Tax Assessor of the Borough of Newfield.
The Tax Assessor shall hold a tax assessor certificate and shall have the duty of assessing property for the purpose of general taxation.
The Tax Assessor shall be appointed by the Mayor and Council.
The Tax Assessor need not be a resident of the Borough of Newfield.
The term of office of the Tax Assessor shall each be for a period of four years beginning from the first day of July next following appointment. Vacancies other than due to expiration of term shall be filled by appointment for the unexpired term.[1]

Compensation for the Tax Assessor shall be determined annually by the Mayor and Council in the Salary Ordinance adopted annually by the Borough of Newfield.[1]
