Twenty-five miles per hour is hereby established as the maximum
speed at which vehicles may proceed within the corporate limits of
this Village, except on the following highways:

Any person violating this article shall be punishable by a fine
not exceeding $100 or by imprisonment for not exceeding 30 days, or
by both such fine and imprisonment, for the conviction of a first
offense; by a fine of not less than $50 nor more than $250 or by imprisonment
for not exceeding 90 days, or by both such fine and imprisonment,
for the conviction of a second offense committed within a period of
18 months; and by a fine of not less than $100 nor more than $500
or by imprisonment for not exceeding 180 days, or by both such fine
and imprisonment, for the conviction of a third or subsequent offense
committed within a period of 18 months.
All convictions pursuant to this article shall be noted by the
Police Justice on the reverse side of the license of the person convicted.
