This chapter shall be known, cited and referred to herein as
the "Village Fire Prevention Code," except as referred to herein as
"this chapter."
The purpose of this chapter is to prescribe regulations consistent
with recognized good practice for the safeguarding of life, health,
safety and welfare of the public as well as establish minimum standards
for the design and construction of buildings and the prevention of
fire and explosion from hazardous conditions that potentially exist
in buildings or on premises and to the occupants thereof.
The provisions of this chapter shall apply to all public buildings
and places of employment, to include all buildings or structures located
on such properties, with the following exceptions:
A. Exempt buildings. The following buildings and uses are not public
buildings or places of employment and are not subject to the provisions
of this chapter:
(1) One- and two-family dwellings except where specified.
(2) Temporary buildings used for construction purposes only, not to exceed
two stories in height and not used as living quarters.
(3) Buildings owned by the federal government.
