In each school district of the third class (Clairton City School
District hereafter to be named Clairton Municipal School District)
there shall be a board of nine (9) School Directors. Following the
adoption of the Home Rule Charter, these Directors are to be elected
by the registered electors of the ward the member is to represent.
All elected members shall serve for a term of four (4) years.
The term of office shall begin on the first Monday of December following
their election. They shall continue in office until their successors
assume the office. The procedure for the filling of vacancies is set
forth in Section 315 of the Public School Code of 1949.
School Directors shall have been residents of the ward they
represent throughout one (1) year before their election and shall
reside therein throughout their term of office. The School Director
elected at large shall have been a resident of the municipality for
one (1) year before his election and must reside therein during the
term of office.
At the municipal election to be held in the year 1989, there
shall be elected four (4) School Directors to serve for a term of
four (4) years, the aforesaid four (4) Directors to be elected one
(1) from each ward. Thereafter, every four (4) years, four (4) School
Directors shall be elected for terms of four (4) years, one (1) from
each ward.
At the municipal election to be held in the year 1991, there
shall be elected five (5) School Directors to serve for a term of
four (4) years. Four (4) Directors are to be elected, one (1) from
each ward, and one (1) Director shall be elected at large. Thereafter,
every four (4) years, five (5) School Directors shall be elected for
terms of four (4) years, one (1) from each of the four (4) wards and
one (1) at large.
The procedure for nomination and election of School Directors
shall be established by the general laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
for municipal elections.
