The Township Treasurer shall be nominated and elected by qualified electors of the Township-at-large. He shall serve a four-year term commencing in January 1978. The Treasurer shall be a resident of the Township and shall continue to reside within the Township during his term of office.

The Treasurer shall disburse Township moneys in accordance with procedures established by the Council in the Administrative Code. No such order shall be paid unless there is a sufficient appropriation.

Vacancies in the office of Treasurer shall be filled by Council for the remainder of the unexpired term.

Council, by resolution, shall determine the salary and benefits, if any, of the Treasurer.

A. 
The Treasurer shall forfeit his office if he:
(1) 
Lacks at any time during his term of office any qualification for the office as prescribed by this Charter or by law;
(2) 
Willfully violates any express, substantive prohibition of this Charter;
(3) 
Is convicted of a crime involving moral turpitude;
(4) 
Directly or indirectly collects taxes for any agency other than the Township which has the authority to impose taxes.
