Editor's Note: Original § 303, Parking prohibited during certain hours, which immediately followed this subsection, was repealed by Ord. No. 97-3.
A.
The Mayor may, from time to time, upon request of any handicapped resident of the Borough, and after inquiry thereunto, designate space along any Borough street, which space shall be as close as possible to the residence of such handicapped person, as being reserved for parking by handicapped persons whose vehicles bear handicapped registration plates issued by the Department of Transportation and shall cause to be erected at such handicapped parking space signs indicating the restriction, such sign being of a type approved by the Department of Transportation and installed in conformity with the regulations of the Department.
B.
Should the Mayor learn of the death of any handicapped person for whose benefit he had designated a parking space for utilization by handicapped persons whose vehicles bear handicapped registration plates or of the departure of any such handicapped person from the residence in close proximity to which such designated handicapped parking space is located, he may rescind such designation, thereby returning the subject parking space to the status that it held prior to designation, with any and all signs marking it as a handicapped parking space to be removed.
No person shall park or leave unattended a vehicle on private property without the consent of the owner or other person in control or possession of the property except:
A.
In the case of emergency or disablement of the vehicle, in which case the operator shall arrange for the removal of the vehicle as soon as possible; and
B.
In the case of private parking lots unless such lots are posted to notify the public of any parking restrictions and the operator of the vehicle violates such posted restrictions. For the purposes of this section, "private parking lot" means a parking lot open to the public or used for parking without charge or a parking used for parking with charge. To be sufficient, posting shall be in accordance with regulations promulgated by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
