[Adopted 5-9-2013 by Res. No. 05-09-13-01]
Disconnection of an existing sanitary sewer lateral from the main sanitary sewer line shall be completed prior to the beginning of demolition activities. The owner/occupant or registered plumbers are permitted to perform and certify the sewer disconnection of the service lateral. The disconnection shall be made generally at the point of the original connection (at joint) or as near as possible to the property line or easement right-of-way line, as applicable. The line should be capped/sealed, allowing no infiltration into the system.[1]

Editor's Note: See the lateral termination details, included as an attachment to this chapter.
The owner/agent shall notify the Authority 24 hours in advance of the scheduled disconnection. When the demolition of a structure is performed for the purposes of constructing a new structure on the property, a building permit is required, then the owner/agent shall file an application for sanitary sewer connection with the Authority identifying the use of the structure and arranging to pay all fees for increased usage into the sanitary sewer system based on any change in sewage discharge demands created by the new structure.
