[HISTORY: Short-form summary of system and contact information prepared by NIRA Consulting Engineers, Inc. as last revised November 2010. Amendments noted where applicable.]
The Collier Township Municipal Authority's ("Authority") wastewater collection system consists of approximately 64.8 miles of pipe lines and manholes, and three pumping stations. The Authority's system provides sewage service to approximately 2,828 customers and purchases sewage treatment from the Allegheny County Sanitary Authority (ALCOSAN).
The Authority personnel staff consists of the two Office Administrators, who can be reached Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at office number 412-279-4941, or by Fax at 412-278-2001. The Authority does not own construction equipment or maintenance vehicles. All maintenance and repair work and construction of new lines are by contract with maintenance and construction contractors.
(Separate) Sanitary sewer overflows (SSOs) from diversion chambers, manholes and sewage backups into basements are the types of emergency situations which generally occur. On occasion, pump station malfunctions also cause overflows at the stations wet well (manhole). Overflows are generally reported by local residents or passersby, who either contact the Authority's office directly or the Collier Township Police Department, or the Collier Township Road Department (office: 412-429-6811).
