While upon any sidewalk, alley, public highway, curb or lawn in the
Township of Springfield it shall be unlawful for any person to "thumb," request,
ask for or solicit a ride from the operator of any motor vehicle.
Any person violating the provisions of this ordinance shall, upon conviction,
be fined the sum of $10 together with costs of prosecution, and in default
of the payment thereof, be sentenced to undergo imprisonment for not more
than five days.
