The short title of this chapter shall be "Coasting Vehicles."
It is the purpose of this chapter to prohibit the use of skateboards and similar self-propelled coasting devices in the business district of the Town of Belvidere.
As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
BUSINESS DISTRICT
For the purposes of this chapter, that area of the Town of Belvidere which includes the following roadways and sidewalks situated thereon: Paul Street from the south side and running southward on Market Street to Greenwich Street, and on Greenwich Street to the south side of Front Street; from the west side of Hardwick Street at its intersection with Oxford Street, westward on Front Street from the west side of Prospect Street to the second alley on the north side of Water Street west of Market Street; Mansfield Street between Front Street and Second Street.
COASTING VEHICLE
Any self-propelled object of travel on wheels, including skateboards, scooters and roller skates, but not including bicycles and wheelchairs.
It shall be unlawful for any person to operate a coasting vehicle at any time within the business district of the Town of Belvidere.
Any person found to have violated this chapter shall, upon conviction, be liable for the following fines and penalties: first offense, a fine of $25; second offense, a fine of $50 and confiscation of the coasting vehicle; third and subsequent offenses, a fine of $100 and confiscation of the coasting vehicle.
