This article is enacted under the authority of Article VII, Section 702, Clause XLVII, of the Second Class Township Code, Act of May 1, 1933, P.L. 103, as amended July 13, 1961, P.L. 600, 53 P.S. § 65747.[1]

The following words and phrases shall be construed throughout this article to have the meanings herein indicated:
COUNCIL
The Washington Township Council.
MOTOR VEHICLES
Any automobile, van, bus or any other similar vehicle utilized for transportation.
RECREATIONAL AREAS AND PARKS
Those areas or parks designated on the Official Washington Township Zoning District Map as recreational areas or parks.
TOWNSHIP
Washington Township, Erie County, Pennsylvania.
The township hereby prohibits any person from sleeping in a motor vehicle within the recreational area or park for a period in excess of one hour.
All township recreational areas and/or parks shall be closed to the public from the hours of sunset to sunrise, and any person who shall remain on such recreational area or in such recreational park after these hours shall be deemed to have violated this article.

A. 
Enforcement proceedings for violations of this article shall be as provided in Chapter 1, General Provisions, Article III, Criminal Enforcement.
B. 
Any person who shall violate this article shall, upon conviction thereof, be required to pay a criminal fine in the amount of $25 per violation and shall be imprisoned to the extent allowed by law for the punishment of summary offenses. All penalties imposed for the violation of this article shall be paid to the Township Treasurer for the use of the township.
