[Adopted 9-18-2000 by Ord. No. 1545; approved at referendum 11-7-2000]
A Length of Service Award Program (LOSAP) is herewith created effective January 1, 2000, in accordance with Chapter 388 of the Laws of New Jersey 1997 (N.J.S.A. 40A:14-183 et seq.) to reward members of the South Plainfield Volunteer Fire Department and South Plainfield Volunteer Rescue Squad for their loyal, diligent and devoted services to the residents of the Borough of South Plainfield.
The LOSAP shall provide for fixed annual contributions to a deferred income account for each volunteer member that meets the criteria set forth below. Such contributions shall be made in accordance with a plan that shall be established by the Borough of South Plainfield pursuant to P.L. 1997 C. 388; and such plan shall be administered in accordance with laws of the State of New Jersey, the U.S. Internal Revenue Code and this article.

A. 
The maximum amount of contributions per volunteer shall be $ 1,787.00 for the year 2021.
B. 
The maximum amount of contributions shall be adjusted in accord with the Annual Consumer Price Index, which adjustments shall be calculated on an annual basis by the Director of the Division of Local Government Services.
The LOSAP shall provide for annual contributions to each eligible member that meets the criteria as follows:
A. 
Volunteer Fire Department. Attendance at all calls and alarms for members of the South Plainfield Volunteer Fire Department as per Schedule A attached hereto.[2]

South Plainfield Rescue Squad. Attendance at calls and alarms for volunteers of the South Plainfield Rescue Squad as per Schedule B attached hereto.[3]

The estimated cost of this program has been calculated as follows: For regular services, excluding administration, not to exceed $100,000.00.
