JUNK VEHICLE
Shall be a vehicle which is abandoned, wrecked, or partially dismantled, discarded; and shall also include an unregistered vehicle, but excluding vehicles that are registered on a seasonal basis.
PERSON
Shall mean any person, corporation, partnership, or other legal entity.
REGISTERED VEHICLE
A vehicle currently registered pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 90 or comparable laws of other States and the United States of America.
VEHICLE
Shall mean a machine propelled by other than human power that is designed to travel on the ground by use of wheels, treads, runners or slides and transport persons, property or other machinery and shall include, without limitations, automobiles, buses, mobile homes, motor homes, trucks, trailers, motorcycles, tractors or recreational and snow vehicles.
A. 
No person shall cause or allow more than two junk vehicles to be kept in the open on premises owned or controlled by that person.
B. 
A junk vehicle, as defined in this By-Law, shall not be considered to be "in the open" if it is stored inside a garage, barn, shed or other fully enclosed roofed building located lawfully upon the premises.
The penalty for violation of this By-Law shall be a fine of not less than $50 nor more than $300 per day, per vehicle, in excess of the number allowed under § 344-2 of this By-Law. For a first violation, a person may be given a warning with no penalty if the violation is corrected within 30 days.
This By-Law shall not apply to farm equipment and construction equipment, which is operable and used for the purpose of agriculture and the construction business respectively; and this By-Law shall not apply to designated premises of licensed junk dealers and licensed automobile dealers under Massachusetts General Laws and the By-Laws of the Town of Dartmouth.
This By-Law may also be enforced as a non-criminal violation, with Town building inspectors having dual enforcement jurisdiction, as set out under Chapter 60, Article I, in these General By-Laws.
