§ 164-1 Scotch light or other device required.
It shall be unlawful for any person to operate or propel a bicycle upon
any of the highways or streets of the Borough of Glassboro unless equipped
with a device known as a "Scotch light" or other device performing the same
or similar functions of a Scotch light.
§ 164-2 Carrying other persons.
It shall be unlawful for any person operating a bicycle upon any of
the highways or streets of the Borough of Glassboro to carry upon said vehicle
any other person than the one propelling the same, unless said vehicle is
what is commonly known as a two-person vehicle or tandem.
§ 164-3 Operation in restricted areas.
It shall be unlawful for any person to operate or cause to be operated
any bicycle in any restricted places, school grounds or sidewalks of the Borough
of Glassboro, or such other places in said Borough as shall be designated
as restricted areas by the Police Department.
§ 164-4 Riding on wrong side of street.
It shall be unlawful for any person to propel any bicycle over the highways
or streets of the Borough of Glassboro upon the wrong side thereof.
§ 164-5 Speed restrictions.
It shall be unlawful to operate a bicycle at a rate of speed that shall
be hazardous or likely to injure the rights of others using said highway.
§ 164-6 Violations and penalties.
Any person violating any provisions of this chapter shall, upon conviction
thereof, pay the court costs and suffer said bicycle to be impounded by the
Police Department for a period of not exceeding 30 days for the first offense;
and in the event of a violation of any of the provisions of this chapter for
the second offense, the Police Department shall be authorized to impound said
bicycle until such time as the owner or operator thereof shall demonstrate
to the Police Department his or her willingness to abide by the rules and
regulations of this chapter.
