There is hereby created in and for the Borough of Middlesex the position of Deputy Chief Financial Officer.
The Deputy Chief Financial Officer shall be appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Council. If the Mayor fails to nominate within 30 days after the position of Deputy Chief Financial Officer is created and/or after the position becomes vacant or the governing body fails to confirm any nomination made by the Mayor, then, after the expiration of the said 30 days, the governing body shall appoint a Deputy Chief Financial Officer. A majority vote of at least three affirmative votes shall be required for such appointment. The Mayor shall vote only in the case of a tie. The Deputy Chief Financial Officer need not be a resident of the Borough of Middlesex in order to qualify for the position. The Deputy Chief Financial Officer shall serve for the calendar year in which said person is appointed and until a successor is appointed and qualified. Any vacancies shall be filled in the manner of the original appointment for the unexpired term.
The Deputy Chief Financial Officer shall receive such compensation as shall be fixed from time to time by the governing body of the Borough of Middlesex.[1]

It shall be the duty of the Deputy Chief Financial Officer to assist the Chief Financial Officer in the performance of his/her duties.
