Application of contractors, builders and others for temporary water service will be accepted and temporary water service will be supplied, provided that it does not interfere with use of water for general purposes.
Customers requiring temporary water service shall reimburse the Department for all its expenses in connection with the necessary temporary service connections, and a deposit in an amount specified by the Department will be required in every instance.
If temporary service is supplied through a fire hydrant, a permit for the use of the hydrant shall be obtained from the proper authority and the Department.
The quantity of water taken for temporary purposes shall be determined either by meter or by estimate and paid for in accordance with the rate schedule applicable to metered general purposes.
Temporary service connections shall be disconnected and terminated within six months after installation unless an extension of time is granted, in writing, by the Department.
Any customer shall use all possible care to prevent damage to the meter or to any other loaned facilities of the Department which are involved in furnishing the temporary service from the time they are installed until they are removed. If the meter or other facilities are damaged, the cost of making repairs shall be paid by the customer.
