There is hereby created an advisory committee which shall be
known as the "Township of Franklin Senior Citizen Advisory Committee"
hereinafter called the "Advisory Committee."
The Advisory Committee shall, by majority vote by its members, designate a member as Chairperson thereof who shall serve for a term of one year. At the first meeting of the Advisory Committee, its members shall establish rules and procedures for its members. It shall keep accurate records of its meetings and activities and shall file an annual report as provided in §
122-5 of this chapter.
The powers and duties of the Advisory Committee shall be to:
A. Encourage the active involvement of seniors of the Township of Franklin
in activities which promote the health, safety, welfare and social
interaction of senior citizens within the Franklin Township community.
B. Advise the Township Committee on matters affecting seniors and to
report on activities of seniors.
C. Seek to coordinate, assist and unify efforts of individuals and private
senior groups in accordance with the purposes of this chapter.
D. Maintain liaison and communications with public and private agencies
and organizations of local, state and national scope whose programs
and activities have an impact on seniors or which can be of assistance
to seniors.
E. Carry out such other duties as may be assigned from time to time
by the Township Committee.
The Advisory Committee shall submit an annual report to the
Township Committee not later than the first day of December of each
year covering the activities and the work of the Advisory Committee
and from time to time shall submit other such reports and recommendations
as may be necessary to fulfill the purposes of this chapter.
The members of the Advisory Committee, including liaison members,
shall receive no compensation for their services as members thereof,
but may be reimbursed for reasonable and necessary appropriations
made available therefor but only upon request to and approval by the
Township Committee.
