The Swimming Pool Code of New Jersey, 1955, adopted by this Board, does not apply to private family swimming pools. The code is intended for application to those pools which accommodate the general public.
Swimming pools shall be classified as accessory structures and conform to setbacks as required for such structures in the local building codes.[1]

Water used for filling or makeup purposes should be of drinking water quality.
A. 
Unless an approved type of filling system is installed, any source of water which may be used to fill the pool shall be equipped with backflow protection.
B. 
No over-the-rim fill spout will be accepted unless located under a diving board or installed in a 1uanner approved by the Board so as to remove any hazard.
Swimming pools that are contemplated, having capacities in excess of 750 gallons, it is required that properly designed and constructed pumps, filters and disinfecting equipment be installed.
Whenever any swimming pool, by reason of mechanical defects or leek of proper supervision, is in the opinion of the Health Officer polluted and detrimental to health, such pool may be summarily closed.
Any person maintaining, operating or conducting a swimming pool who shall violate the provisions of this article shall be subject to a penalty of not less than $25 nor more than $100 upon conviction thereof in the Municipal Court of Middlesex. Each day or part thereof during which such violation shall continue, shall constitute a separate offense.
