In the interest of the health, safety and general welfare of all persons residing in the Town, it shall be mandatory for all property owners in the Town owning property, as herein defined, to file a certificate of occupancy with the Board of Selectmen of the Town of Raymond in the form and manner as prescribed by said Board prior to the occupancy of said property.
As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
PROPERTY
Includes all new dwellings (or mobile homes), the construction of which is completed for occupancy during the 12 months preceding the passage of this chapter. In the event that said property is a multifamily dwelling, a separate certificate must be filed for each dwelling unit or apartment prior to each new occupancy. "Property" shall also be defined to mean and include all seasonal dwellings (or mobile homes) converted from seasonal to year-round use or any conversion of a nonresidential structure to a single- or multiple-dwelling use in the 12 months preceding passage of this chapter. "Property" shall also be defined to mean and include all new construction and conversions completed for occupancy following the passage of this chapter.
Any property owner who shall violate the provisions of this chapter shall be guilty of a violation and shall be punished by a fine of not more than $25 upon conviction for each day such violation may exist or continue. Any such violation, once commenced, shall constitute a continuing violation until it is terminated, and such continuing violation may be prosecuted as a single violation or as a series of separate violations.
The effective date of this chapter is April 1, 1979.
