All candidates, applicants, and present employees of the Township Police Department and Department of Public Works shall meet and pass the following requirement as a condition of employment, to wit:
A. 
Each applicant or candidate for employment in said Township departments shall submit himself or herself to a physical examination by a physician duly appointed by the Township Commissioners and shall have passed the same prior to being hired.
B. 
Each policeman and employee of the Department of Public Works shall take and pass a complete physical examination given by the physician duly appointed by the Township Commissioners at least once a year at a time and place designated by the Township Commissioners as a condition for continued employment in the Township of Stowe.
C. 
In the event said employee shall be deemed to be totally and permanently disabled by the said physician so as to be unable to carry out his normal duties, then he or she shall be involuntarily retired.
D. 
In the event any employee refuses to take a physical examination when directed to do so by the Commissioners of the Township of Stowe, he or she shall be suspended without pay for a period of 10 days. At the end of said ten-day suspension period, if he continues to refuse to take said examination, he or she may be discharged for cause.
