A Board of Tax Assessors is hereby established in the Borough of Wanaque, to be known as "The Board of Tax Assessors."
Said Board shall consist of three members, each to be appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Council of the Borough of Wanaque; the members of said Board shall be known as "Borough Assessors."
Said Board shall assess personal and real property in the Borough of Wanaque for taxation, and shall have all the powers and duties devolving by law upon Borough Assessors.

The terms of office of the members of said Board of Tax Assessors shall be and are hereby fixed for a term of four years from the first day of July next following their appointment, as provided by statute. All vacancies shall be filled, as provided by statute, for the unexpired term. Before appointment, members shall meet qualifications as are required by statute.

One of the members of said Board of Tax Assessors shall be designated by the Mayor, with the advice and consent of the Council of the Borough of Wanaque, as Secretary. The term of such Secretary shall expire concurrently with the term of the Member appointed as Secretary. Vacancies in the office of Secretary of the Board of Tax Assessors shall be filled by appointing any member of said Board of Tax Assessors as Secretary. The term of such appointment to fill a vacancy shall expire concurrently with the term of the member appointed as Secretary.

The members of said Board of Tax Assessors and Secretary of said Board shall receive such salaries as may be fixed by the applicable Salary Ordinances in effect, and as may be amended or promulgated in the future.[1]

The Board of Tax Assessors shall furnish, upon application to said Board and payment of a fee of $5 for each application, plus $0.50 for each name and address supplied, the names and addresses of all property owners situate within 200 feet of property affected by proposed variances in the Zoning Ordinance.[1] The Board of Tax Assessors shall furnish such information to applicants as expeditiously as possible, but not later than 10 days from the date on which such application is received. A certification by any member of the Board of Tax Assessors of a list of property owners within 200 feet of any proposed variance shall be in satisfaction of any requirement of the Zoning Ordinance.

The present Board of Assessors and Secretary of said Board, whose positions were created under the ordinance herewith being amended, shall continue to hold the respective positions until their successors are appointed or designated and qualify.
