A body corporate and politic to be known as the "Housing Authority of the Township of Riverside" is hereby created and established pursuant to the provisions of the Local Housing Authorities Law of the State of New Jersey.[1]

A. 
The Housing Authority of the Township of Riverside shall consist of seven members who shall be appointed and hold office for the terms as hereinafter provided. The Township Committee shall appoint five Commissioners and the Mayor shall appoint one Commissioner of the Authority. These Commissioners first appointed shall be designated to serve the following terms: one for a term of one year, one for a term of two years, one for a term of three years, one for a term of four years and two for terms of five years, and shall hold said offices until their respective successors are appointed and have qualified. After the initial appointments, Commissioners so appointed shall hold office for terms of five years and until their successors are appointed and have qualified, except that all vacancies shall be filled for the unexpired term.
B. 
Upon receipt of notification of the creation of the Housing Authority of the Township of Riverside, the Director of the Public Housing and Development Authority in the Department of Community Affairs shall appoint one Commissioner who shall hold office at his pleasure.
The Housing Authority of the Township of Riverside shall constitute a public body corporate and politic of the Township of Riverside and shall have the powers and duties specified by the Local Housing Authorities Law[1] of the State of New Jersey, as amended and supplemented from time to time.
