A. 
There shall be a Department of Public Works.
B. 
Working Road Foreman. The head of the Department of Public Works shall be the Working Road Foreman. The Working Road Foreman shall be appointed by the Township Committee and shall be subject to the civil service rules and regulations. The Working Road Foreman shall be responsible for and devote his full time and attention to the proper and efficient conduct of all public works function for the municipal government, and he shall supervise and direct the work of the Public Works Department. The Working Road Foreman shall receive such compensation as prescribed by the Salary Ordinance.[1]

The duties of the Public Works Department shall be to:
A. 
Maintain and repair all municipal roads.
B. 
Maintain and repair all municipal storm and drainage systems.
C. 
Provide for and carry out snow removal and sanding or salting operations on municipal roads.
D. 
Construct and reconstruct such municipal streets as may be authorized.
E. 
Maintain and repair municipal trucks and other motor vehicles.
F. 
Perform other services as may be directed by the Township Committee and the Director of Public Works.
G. 
Clean, maintain and repair municipal buildings and facilities.
H. 
Maintain and repair the municipal playgrounds, play fields, outdoor recreational facilities, public parks and grounds.
I. 
Provide facilities, such as baseball fields, basketball courts, and tennis courts, and general seeding, fertilizing and mowing of grass, etc., in the various recreational facilities within the limits of the Township of Riverside, pursuant to the recommendations of the Board of Recreation Commissioners.
J. 
Perform mosquito control operations in conjunction with the Township Board of Health and the Burlington County Mosquito Control Commission.
A. 
The Township Committee recognizes Civil Service Council No. 16 as the exclusive bargaining agent for an appropriate unit of Public Works Department employees.
B. 
Assistant Municipal Clerk and Senior Bookkeeping Machine Operator/Clerk Stenographer are hereby included in an appropriate unit of Public Works Department employees for the purposes of collective bargaining. The Township heretofore in Ordinance No. 1976-7[1] recognized Civil Service Council No. 16 as the exclusive bargaining agent for said unit.

Effective April 24, 2007, the Township of Riverside will begin collecting fees for the following items and services:
A. 
Stump collection: $25 per stump.
B. 
Tire collection: $5 per car tire; $10 per truck tire.
