There is hereby created the position of deputy administrator.

A. 
The Borough deputy administrator shall be appointed by the mayor, with the advice and consent of the Borough council.
B. 
The term of office of the Borough deputy administrator shall be at the pleasure of the governing body.
C. 
The deputy administrator shall receive as salary such sums as may be fixed and adopted by the Borough council in the annual salary and ordinance.

The Borough deputy administrator shall be chosen on the basis of his/her executive and administrative abilities and qualifications with special regard as to education, training and experience in governmental affairs. The Borough deputy administrator need not be a resident of the Borough.

Any vacancy in the position of Borough deputy administrator may be filled by appointment by the mayor with the advice and consent of the Borough council.

A. 
The Borough deputy administrator shall, under the supervision and control of the mayor and Borough council, and to the extent not prohibited by law, shall have the same authority, responsibilities and duties as set forth in Section 2.34.010 of this chapter.
B. 
The mayor or the Borough council or any committee may assign specific duties to the deputy administrator as set forth in Section 2.34.010 of this chapter.
