Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:14-53, the Fire Chief of the City of Ventnor City is hereby authorized to establish within the City of Ventnor City such fire areas as he may deem necessary to preserve and safeguard the public health, safety, morals and welfare and to regulate traffic and parking within said designated fire areas as set forth in Schedule A attached hereto and specifically made a part of this chapter.[1]

The authorization as set forth in § 117-1 hereinabove shall extend to and include those parking yards and parking places for vehicles which are open to the public or to which the public has been invited, whether maintained or operated separately or in conjunction with any business or enterprise pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:48-2.46.

The Police Department of the City of Ventnor City shall have full authority to issue a summons to any person parking, stopping or standing a vehicle within an area duly designated as a fire area by the Fire Chief of the City of Ventnor City. Any such offender shall be liable to a penalty of not more than $50 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 15 days, or both. In addition to or as a substitute for the previously mentioned fine, the imposition of community service shall be authorized as an additional penalty, which community service shall not exceed 90 days.
