Any person, except as otherwise provided herein,
performing yard-maintenance services within the Borough of Maywood
shall first obtain a license therefor from the Building Department
of the Borough of Maywood.
The provisions of this chapter shall apply to
all persons performing yard-maintenance services within the Borough
of Maywood excepting full-time students, 18 years of age or younger,
who perform yard-maintenance services on a part-time basis or the
owners or occupants of real property within the Borough of Maywood
performing yard-maintenance services on property owned or occupied
by them or at no charge to the owners or occupants thereof. For the
purposes of this chapter, “yard-maintenance services”
shall be defined as lawn mowing, leaf removal and cleanup of garden
debris.
Each applicant for a license shall submit an
application containing the following information:
A. Name, address and telephone number of individual or
business providing landscaping services;
B. Make, model, year, color, registration number and
license plate number of all motor vehicles used in connection with
providing landscaping services;
C. Proof of insurance, including statutory workers compensation
insurance, motor vehicle insurance for each motor vehicle used in
providing landscaping services, liability insurance for both personal
injury and property damage in an amount not less than $1,000,000 for
personal injuries and $500,000 for property damage;
D. If pesticides are used in connection with yard-maintenance
services, proof that the applicant is licensed by the State of New
Jersey to administer pesticides.

A. Each vehicle operating in the Borough shall display a valid Borough
of Maywood landscaping sticker. Such sticker shall be affixed and
displayed on the vehicle licensed.
B. The applicant shall submit annually a license fee to the Borough
of Maywood in the sum of $50 for the licensing of a business and the
use of one vehicle. The applicant shall submit annually a license
fee to the Borough of Maywood the sum of $5 for each additional vehicle.
C. All licenses shall expire at 11:59 p.m. on December 31 in the year
in which the license was issued. A new license application, together
with the fee therefor, shall be filed each year.

Any person or corporation pleading guilty or found guilty of
performing professional yard maintenance services pursuant to this
chapter without the appropriate required license or license properly
displayed/affixed to their vehicle shall be subject to the following
corresponding fines:
C. Third and subsequent offenses: $500 and a one-year ban from applying
for/receiving a license with the Borough.
