A. 
Purpose. The purpose of this section is to implement the provision of P.L. 1987, Chapter 174 as amended to require any individual license or permit holder owning real property to bring up-to-date any overdue real property taxes in order to receive the re-issuance of a license or permit.
Additionally, this section shall provide for the revocation of any license or permit in accordance with the provisions of said Chapter 174.
B. 
Requirement. Prior to the issuance or renewal of any license or permit as set forth in the Code of the Township of Barnegat or other applicable laws, the applicant, if he or she is the owner of real property where the business or activity for which the license or permit is sought or wherein the business or activity is to be conducted shall be required to pay any and all delinquent real estate taxes upon said property.
C. 
Suspension. The owner of said real property upon which said business or activity is located shall have his or her license or permit revoked in the event that said individual, corporation or partnership has failed to pay the taxes due on the property for at least three (3) consecutive quarters. Upon payment of the delinquent taxes or assessments, the license or permit shall be restored.
D. 
In the event any permit holder or licensee, who is the owner of the property upon which the licensed activity or business is conducted, fails to pay property taxes on the property for at least three (3) consecutive quarters, a notice shall be sent by the township to said property owner advising that if his taxes are not brought current within ninety (90) days, then any and all licenses or permits issued by the municipality shall immediately be suspended. Said suspension shall become effective immediately and automatically upon failure of the property owner to bring his taxes current within ninety (90) days from the issuance of the notice by the township set forth herein.
E. 
This section shall not apply or regulate New Jersey alcoholic beverages licenses or permits issued pursuant to the "Alcoholic Beverage Control Act" N.J.R.S. 33:1-1 et seq.
